Obesimed® was developed for treating those who are mildly or extremely overweight. Obesimed® is for anyone who is overweight, or wants to lose weight.

Obesimed® can help you lose a considerable amount of weight and helps to promote balanced eating habits. Obesimed® is not recommended for children under 10 years or people with a BMI of <19.

The active ingredient in the Obesimed® capsule is a vegetable fibre, which absorbs great quantities of water. The fibre then creates a natural substance which fills the stomach. This results in a full feeling, leaving you with a greater sense of satisfaction from the meal and during the period afterwards. Obesimed® also reduces the speed at which the food leaves the stomach, further enhancing the feeling of satisfaction in the stomach. This will help you to start eating less, enabling you to adopt more balanced eating habits.

Finally, Obesimed® will give you bowel relief. Obesimed® is a class IIa medical device, the effectiveness of which has been substantiated according to the European Medical Directive (Meddev 93/42/EEC).

Obesimed® has undergone extensive risk analysis. This has shown Obesimed® to be safe when used in accordance with the instructions in the leaflet. It is important to drink two large glasses of water (approx. 500 ml/1 pint) with each dose of two capsules, for Obesimed® to work effectively.

Obesimed® is a vegetable product and contains no lactose, gluten, fish or nuts.

Yes, Obesimed® contains only vegetable ingredients and is therefore suitable for vegetarians.

Obesimed® is a medical device available from major chemists, pharmacies and health shops. A prescription is therefore not necessary. This means that health insurers do not refund it as standard. If you have additional insurance for alternative therapies, you can ask your health insurer whether it might consider refunding the costs of this product.

Obesimed® will help you to eat less, as it will help you to feel fuller and more satisfied, as well as reducing feelings of hunger. This will help you to maintain a healthy diet plan, as you should not feel the need to snack as often between meals. The actual weight loss achieved as a result of using Obesimed® will depend upon your diet and lifestyle choices. In order to achieve the best weight loss result, it is recommended that you follow a sensible calorie controlled diet and excercise regularly, as well as using Obesimed®. Several clinical studies have shown that using Obesimed® leads to greater weight loss when it is combined with a calorie controlled diet.

The active ingredient in Obesimed® has no pharmacological effect and is not absorbed into the body or digested.

Research has shown that Obesimed® reduces the blood sugar level. Use in combination with other diet supplements/medicines with comparable hypoglycaemic (blood sugar-reducing) effects is therefore not recommended. The leaflet/instructions for your medicines will state whether what you are taking will reduce your blood sugar level. Consult your physician or pharmacist if you are in any doubt.

All oral medicines must be taken one hour before, or four hours after, using Obesimed®.

Yes, diabetics can use Obesimed®. However, it is recommended that you check your blood sugar level regularly when using Obesimed® and adjust the medication if necessary, in consultation with your physician/diabetes practitioner. It has been recognised from clinical studies that Obesimed® can lead to a reduction in blood sugar levels and that Obesimed® can improve the blood's glycemic status. Research in diabetes type 2 patients showed that using Obesimed® can complement current treatments. Using this product will reduce the cholesterol level and improve the blood's glycemic status, in the case of hyperlipidemic (increased cholesterol and/or triglyceride content) type 2 diabetes patients.

For optimum results, we advise taking two capsules of Obesimed®, three times a day, one hour before meals, with two large glasses of water (approx. 500 ml/1 pint). This quantity is based on a normal stomach capacity. The stomach capacity following a stomach reduction, or if a gastric band has been fitted, is likely to have been altered and therefore it is advised that you contact your physician for advice on whether Obesimed® is suitable for use, before starting to use the product.

The effect of Obesimed® is based on research where the product was consumed before each meal, allowing it to remain effective throughout the day. If you take a dosage of Obesimed® which is different to the dosage that is recommended in the instructions, this could help you to lose some weight, although this is not guaranteed. The best result will be achieved by taking the recommended dosage of Obesimed®. For optimum results, we advise taking two capsules of Obesimed®, three times a day, one hour before meals, with two large glasses of water (approx. 500 ml/1 pint).

No. The capsule must never be opened. The active ingredient in Obesimed® will only take effect in the stomach if the capsule is swallowed whole. In order to prevent the active ingredient from absorbing moisture too early, for example, in the throat or in the oesophagus - which could lead to the possible danger of suffocation - the capsule must be swallowed whole with plenty of water.

Obesimed® can be used for 30 consecutive days. It is then advised to stop for four days in order to clear this from the intestines. Obesimed® can then be used again for another 30 days. This can, if required, be repeated several times.

As with most weight loss treatments, it is advisable to use a vitamin supplement when taking Obesimed® to ensure that your body is still getting the recommended daily amount of essential vitamins.
